Hi everyone, new rules change pushing out today.
This is an addition to rule 4, relating to titles. We added an eighth guideline to this list:
Titles must directly relate to the event in the picture.
This is a rather simple change but can definitely affect some of the posts you see on our front page. Specifically, this means that, if you are posting about an event, person, or thing - the title you use should match up with the image you use.
Here are a few examples of posts that would not be allowed under this rule:
-
Image: Portrait of a man smiling
- Title: This is Juan Deag, last week he saved 15 puppies from a burning building.
-
Image: Stock photo of celebrity
- Title: <Celebrity> once did this amazing thing!
-
Image: Generic image of random river in America
- Title:Water pollution is out of control!
Essentially, this rule is aimed at reducing posts that are virtue signalling, "news" posts, and things of this nature. If your posts violates this rule, you have two options.
-
Use an image that better fits your title - In the case of the first example, a picture of Juan actually in the burning building, running out of the building, or carrying some cute puppies would be considered acceptable under this rule.
-
Revise your title to relate more to your image. - In the first example, a title that might work better is "Portrait of the hero Juan" (with the story in the comments)
Please note that obvious loopholes are not accepted either. i.e. adding "Portrait of.." to the start of the first example does not excuse you from the rule.
This rule is not intended to punish or harm good faith original content posters, however everyone is expected to follow this rule to the best of their ability. If your have any questions, feel free to ask below or send us a message.
We have some really fun stuff coming down the pipe tomorrow ;), look forward to that!
